Preparing PVC Dry Blend
PVC Solutions Shaped by Technology
VOLDE brings together high capacity, precision, and repeatable quality in PVC dry blend production. Thanks to its experience in process automation, all processes are carried out under full control — from PVC intake to mixer feeding, from filler dosing to homogenization and filling. It enables additives such as stabilizers, plasticizers, and modifiers to be added precisely in micro quantities. This ensures consistently high-quality product across different PVC applications such as cable sheathing, window profiles, pressure pipes, hoses, underlay for laminate flooring, and stretch film.
| Storage and Raw Material Feeding
The production process begins with raw material storage systems.
• PVC resin (K67, K70, etc.)
• Filler materials such as
• Calcite (CaCO₃)
• Titanium dioxide (TiO₂)
• Talc
• Kaolin
raw materials such as these are taken into silos dust-free and safely via bulk tanker or big-bag discharge units. Some raw materials can also be used directly from big bags. The raw materials stored here are automatically transferred to the mixer feed bins via pneumatic lines, using vacuum, blow, or dense-phase conveying methods depending on the application's requirements.
The system can feed multiple turbo mixer lines simultaneously and ensures that raw materials are dosed according to the recipe without mixing with one another.
| Dosing and Additive Feeding
Additive materials are brought into the process via big-bag discharge units or 25 kg bag dumping units. Bag dumping units guarantee operator safety and a clean environment through their dust-free operating principle.
• Stabilizers (Ca-Zn, Ba-Zn, Sn-based), modifiers (ACR, CPE, MBS), and pigments (Fe₂O₃, ultramarine, carbon black) are automatically and precisely weighed on separate scales.
• Plasticizers (DOP, DINP, DOTP, etc.) are automatically dosed into the hot mixer.
• Micro-additives (wax, stearic acid, metal oxides) are prepared at operator-assisted manual stations or on the bag-dumping conveyor and incorporated into the process.
• Recycled scrap material (rework, edge trim, line-end waste) is also weighed via the automatic system and recovered back into the process.
All these operations are controlled by an automation system with high batch speed and high weighing precision. Every stage of the process — weighing, mixing, transfer, and filling — is recorded in line with full traceability (tracking & tracing) principles, generating production reports.
| Intermediate Silos and Extruder Feeding
The dry blend coming out of the turbo mixer can either be used directly according to production needs or managed through storage. The products are re-mixed in blending silos to achieve homogeneity, ensuring uniform product quality in every batch.
From this point on, the material can be fed to extruder or injection lines using different conveying methods depending on the application's requirements. Dense-phase conveying systems provide safe transfer over long distances and at high capacity, while vacuum conveyors deliver material directly to extruders for precise, controlled feeding.
VOLDE's centralized extruder feeding system, on the other hand, offers maximum flexibility on production lines; the ability to feed any extruder from any silo makes it easy to manage different recipes and production scenarios.
| Process Automation and Reporting
All operations are controlled by an automation system with high batch speed and superior weighing precision. The weighing, mixing, transfer, and filling stages are all recorded in line with full traceability (tracking & tracing) principles, generating detailed production reports.
The entire facility is managed by VOLDE's SCADA-based process control and automation system. This system controls the mixer lines, conveying equipment, weighing modules, and filling units from a single center. Thanks to ERP integration, order management, production tracking, and quality control processes are recorded automatically. Remote access capability facilitates maintenance activities and production optimization.
