More than 20 different additives, such as zinc oxide, stearic acid, antioxidants, accelerators, and corrosion inhibitors, are used in Banbury and kneader mixers in a manner requiring high precision and repeatability. For this reason, weighing these additives and feeding them into the mixer must be done with automation-supported systems that operate in full harmony with the mixer's operating characteristics.

VOLDE micro-dosing solutions are designed taking into account the batch volume, feed-inlet geometry, and ram structure of Banbury and kneader mixers. In addition to systems that use semi-automatically (manually weighed) pre-weighed packages, there are also automatic micro-dosing systems that feed directly from small-volume silos or bins. Both structures achieve gram-level precision. Additives are safely fed into the Banbury top feed inlet or the kneader side feed inlet in the order defined in the recipe.

    | Liquid Additive Dosing

    Delivering the liquid raw materials that ensure the rubber compound's processability and process stability into the Banbury and kneader mixer at the right time is critical, particularly in terms of energy consumption and temperature control.

     • Paraffinic, naphthenic, and aromatic process oils
     • Phenolic resins
     • Plasticizers such as DOTP and DINP
     • Other specialty liquid chemicals

    materials such as these are dosed in synchronization with the mixer's rotation speed, ram position, and mixing time. Liquid additives are drawn from heated, agitated tanks and injected into the Banbury mixer or kneader chamber via precision dosing pumps and mass flow meters.

    As a result, all micro and liquid additive systems operate fully integrated with the PLC infrastructure of the Banbury and kneader mixers. Recipes are managed via automation; weighing, dosing, and injection steps are locked to the mixing phases. While operator intervention is minimized, dosing, timing, and process data are recorded for each batch. This structure guarantees both production safety and quality continuity.
