Paint Mixer Powder Feeding

Feeding Fine Powders into the Mixer in Paint Production

VOLDE builds turnkey process systems in paint production facilities that automatically feed micron-level powder raw materials and flammable liquids into mixers safely and cleanly on the same production line. While all production steps are managed centrally via a PLC- and SCADA-controlled automation infrastructure, ATEX requirements are treated as an inseparable part of the process

| Feeding Raw Materials into the Mixer

VOLDE builds automatic feeding and weighing systems for large-volume, mobile-tank or fixed-tank paint mixers used in paint production. This ensures production continuity and consistent product quality even in recipes with high filler ratios.

Liquid raw materials such as acrylic emulsions, PVA (polyvinyl acetate)-based binders, SBR latexes, and water-based resins are also fed into the mixer in a controlled manner according to the recipe.

 • Calcite (CaCO₃)
 • Talc
 • Titanium dioxide (TiO₂)
 • Kaolin
 • Barite and similar fillers

materials such as these are taken from silos inside or outside the facility and transferred to the mixer via vacuum pneumatic conveying systems. Thanks to VOLDE's process experience and engineering infrastructure, the conveying and feeding of powder raw materials with particle sizes of 1 micron and below is carried out in a controlled manner. For each batch, up to 2–3 tons of powder raw material is measured with high precision in automatic weighing units and fed into the mixer via fully enclosed lines.

    | ATEX-Compliant Liquid Feeding Systems for Solvents and Resins

The following, used in paint production

     • Solvents
     • Acrylic resins
     • Alkyd binders
     • Plasticizers and other flammable liquids

are automatically fed from IBCs, drums, or tanks via ATEX-certified pumps and equipment. These transfers, carried out via weighed or flow-controlled systems, are designed with explosive-atmosphere risks in mind. This ensures both production safety and full regulatory compliance, while minimizing operator intervention.

    | Recipe Management and Process Control with PLC & SCADA

In paint facilities built by VOLDE on a turnkey basis, the entire process — including powder feeding, vacuum conveying, liquid dosing, mixing time, and safety parameters — is operated under PLC control. Recipe selection, real-time weighing values, production steps, alarm management, and reporting functions can be monitored via the SCADA system. This automation infrastructure enables fast, error-free switching between different paint formulations.

      “Powder Precision for Perfect Paint”

Dust-free, precise feeding solutions for sub-micron powders

      | Wide Application Range for Paint and Coating Products

      These process solutions are also applied with equal success for;

       • Interior and exterior facade paints
       • Industrial coatings
       • Primers and fillers/putties
       • Water-based and solvent-based paints
       • High-filler-ratio economy paints

In resin and adhesive production, VOLDE designs custom feeding and dosing systems tailored to the character of the raw material, the risks of the process, and the manufacturer's quality goals.
