Micro Additives Dosing

Precise Preparation for Ingredients That Matter in Small Quantities

Food formulations often rely on powdered additives used in relatively small quantities but with a significant influence on taste, texture, stability, nutritional value and final product consistency. Flavours, stabilizers, thickeners, vitamins, minerals, proteins and other functional ingredients therefore require a preparation process with a much higher level of weighing accuracy and traceability than conventional bulk raw materials. VOLDE develops recipe based powder additive preparation systems that combine material identification, gravimetric weighing, batch collection and process automation within one hygienic preparation platform. Each system is configured according to ingredient characteristics, dosing range, recipe complexity and production capacity.

| Accurate Dosing of Major & Minor Ingredients

Powder additive formulations may contain ingredients with very different addition rates, from several kilograms down to much smaller quantities. Using a single dosing principle for every material is therefore rarely sufficient.

VOLDE selects feeders and weighing equipment according to the required dosing range and the flow behaviour of each ingredient. Free-flowing powders, poor-flowing materials and fine functional additives can be handled through different feeding arrangements while remaining part of the same recipe.

The batching system automatically identifies the required ingredient, doses the target quantity and records the actual weight before moving to the next material.

Depending on the application, the system can incorporate:

 • Gravimetric screw or vibratory feeders
 • High-resolution weighing for minor ingredients
 • Coarse and fine dosing stages
 • Manual or automatic micro-ingredient addition
 • Final batch verification
 • Recipe-based batch identification

This architecture allows both higher-volume ingredients and critical low-quantity additives to be prepared within the same production system.

    | Hygienic Preparation & Cross-Contamination Control

In food production, accuracy alone is not enough. Ingredient preparation must also support hygiene, cleanability and the separation of materials where product or allergen cross-contact is a concern.

VOLDE designs product-contact sections with suitable stainless-steel construction, clean internal geometries and equipment arrangements that reduce unnecessary product retention. Depending on the formulation and cleaning strategy, dedicated feeding points, removable product-contact parts or separated material routes can be incorporated.

Particular attention can be given to ingredients with strong flavour, colour, allergen or functional impact, where even small carryover between recipes may affect the next production batch.

Dust extraction at charging and weighing points can also be integrated to improve workplace cleanliness and limit airborne product transfer between adjacent ingredient stations.

With VOLDE separation systems, dust is retained in the process, and only the actual product you want to sell gets packaged. Let's plan the right system for your gelatin line together.

      | Recipe Management, Verification & Traceability

As the number of additives and formulations increases, reliable preparation depends on more than weighing accuracy. The correct material must be used in the correct recipe, in the correct quantity and with a complete production record.

VOLDE integrates the batching process with PLC/SCADA recipe management. Barcode or material-identification systems can be incorporated at charging points to verify ingredient selection, while software interlocks can prevent out-of-recipe additions.

      The automation system can record:

       • Ingredient and lot identification
       • Target and actual weights
       • Recipe and batch information
       • Operator actions
       • Material consumption
       • Alarm and deviation records

Where required, these data can be exchanged with ERP, MES or quality-management systems.

VOLDE combines accurate dosing, hygienic ingredient handling and full recipe traceability to create powder additive preparation systems developed for the quality and food-safety requirements of modern production.
