PVC Insulation & Sheathing Extruder Feeding

Reliable Material Supply for Cable Extrusion Lines

VOLDE PVC Extruder Feeding Systems are developed for the automatic transfer and distribution of PVC dry blend or cable compound from central storage to insulation and sheathing extrusion lines. Material is delivered to extruder-top receivers or feed hoppers according to line demand, creating a consistent material supply between storage and production. Each system is engineered around the number of extrusion lines, individual consumption rates, conveying distances and plant layout. Centralized material distribution, automatic hopper replenishment and PLC-based line selection allow multiple cable extrusion lines to be supplied from common storage infrastructure with reduced operator intervention

| Centralized Distribution to Multiple Extrusion Lines

Cable plants often operate several insulation and sheathing lines using different PVC formulations, colors or compound grades. The feeding system must therefore manage not only conveying capacity but also the correct routing of each material from storage to the required production line.

VOLDE combines central silos, intermediate storage, pneumatic conveying and automatic distribution valves within a common system architecture. Extruder-top receivers monitor material demand locally, while the conveying system automatically replenishes the required line.

 • Central storage for PVC dry blend or compound
 • Automatic distribution to multiple extrusion lines
 • Extruder-top vacuum receivers and feed hoppers
 • Line-based material routing and selection
 • Level-controlled automatic replenishment
 • Expansion-ready distribution layouts

For plants producing several cable grades, dedicated or shared conveying routes can be selected according to the required material separation and production flexibility.

    | Stable Extruder Feeding

A stable material supply above the extruder is essential for maintaining consistent line operation. Hopper capacity, refill frequency and material discharge behavior are therefore matched to the consumption of each extrusion line.

For PVC dry blends and fine powder formulations, hopper geometry and discharge equipment are selected with particular attention to flowability, compaction and bridging. Where required, flow-assist devices can be incorporated to support reliable discharge toward the extruder inlet.

The feeding system can also communicate directly with the extrusion line, allowing replenishment sequences to follow machine status and production demand without unnecessary filling cycles.

Typical solutions include automatic level management, low/high-level monitoring, material demand signals, line interlocks and PLC/SCADA integration.

      | Flexible Plant Integration

Extrusion lines are rarely arranged around a standard plant layout. Conveying distances, elevation changes, available installation space and future line additions can all influence the feeding concept.

VOLDE evaluates the complete route between central storage and each extrusion line to determine the appropriate conveying technology, pipeline configuration and receiver arrangement. Vacuum conveying is commonly applied for flexible centralized distribution, while other pneumatic or mechanical solutions can be incorporated where material characteristics or plant conditions require them.

The result is a scalable feeding infrastructure that can serve existing production lines while allowing additional extruders, storage silos or material routes to be integrated as production requirements evolve.

       • Vacuum or pneumatic conveying according to application
       • Integration into existing cable production plants
       • Central dust filtration where required
       • Multiple material and multiple line configurations
       • Provision for future production-line expansion

VOLDE connects central PVC storage directly with insulation and sheathing extrusion lines, creating a material supply system designed around the actual production demand of the cable plant.
