Powder & Granule Separation

Clean Separation Before Final Packaging

In gelatin and collagen production, the final product may leave the upstream process as a mixture of noodle-form particles and fine powder. Before packaging, these fractions must be separated efficiently so that each product stream can be handled according to its intended quality and packaging requirements. VOLDE develops hygienic separation and filling systems that combine vacuum transfer, particle separation, dust collection and weighed big bag filling within a single process. In a gelatin application, noodle-form product and fine powder are separated into two distinct streams before final packaging.

| Vacuum Conveying & Particle Separation

Gelatin noodle product is transferred through an enclosed vacuum conveying line to a dry-type cyclone. During separation, the heavier noodle fraction is collected in the cyclone body while fine powder continues with the air stream toward the filtration stage.

The fine fraction is then captured by a high-efficiency pulse-jet filter and collected in a separate hopper. A rotary valve positioned beneath the filter allows the powder to be discharged independently to bags or another packaging system.

This arrangement creates two defined product streams within the same process:

 • Gelatin noodle for big bag filling
 • Fine powder collected separately for dedicated handling or packaging

By separating the fractions before filling, the packaging stage receives a more clearly classified product while dust generated within the process remains contained within the filtration system.

    | Hygienic Big Bag Filling

The separated gelatin noodle is transferred from the cyclone to the FULLBAG big bag filling system through hygienically designed product-contact equipment.

Filling is carried out by weight, with the target net quantity defined through the control system. A vibration platform can be incorporated beneath the big bag to improve product settling and make more effective use of the available bag volume.

    The filling concept can include:

     • Hygienic product-contact construction
     • Gravimetric big bag filling
     • Automatic target-weight control
     • Product settling by vibration
     • Enclosed filling connection
     • Flexible big bag formats according to production requirements

This allows the separated product to move directly from classification to final bulk packaging within the same integrated system.

With VOLDE separation systems, dust is retained in the process, and only the actual product you want to sell gets packaged. Let's plan the right system for your gelatin line together.

      | Hygienic, ATEX-Oriented & Traceable Operation

Food powders and fine gelatin fractions require hygiene, dust containment and process safety to be considered together.

The system can be configured with stainless-steel product-contact components, enclosed conveying and filling points, appropriate filtration and equipment selected according to the hygienic requirements of the application. Where combustible-dust risk is identified, the relevant sections are engineered according to the required ATEX zone classification.

Operation is managed through PLC/HMI automation. Fill targets, operating modes, alarms, calibration parameters and equipment status can be monitored from a central interface, while production and filling data can be recorded where required.

VOLDE combines vacuum separation, dust collection and weighed big bag filling into an integrated solution for food products that require powder and granule fractions to be handled separately before packaging.
