Production of Aluminum Composite Panel Core Material

PLC-Controlled, Weighed, SCADA-Supported Process

The core preparation process in aluminum composite panel production is a critical stage that directly determines panel performance. The mechanical strength, surface stability, and long-lasting behavior of the core depend on the raw materials being prepared in the correct ratios, in the same order, and under the same conditions every time. For this reason, granular, powder, and liquid raw materials must be managed with recipe-based, automatic systems rather than manual methods

VOLDE treats the composite panel core preparation process as a fully controlled production chain — from raw material acceptance to kneader feeding, from kneading to the final panel form

| Raw Material Storage and Weighed Conveying

LLDPE granules, the main component of the core material, are stored in silo systems to support uninterrupted production. This structure ensures that granule feeding continues in a stable, controlled manner. The various types of powder additive raw materials used in the process, meanwhile, are brought into compact, operator-friendly bins suited to bag feeding.

Granular and powder raw materials are transferred throughout the process via stainless steel piping and vacuum conveying lines. All conveyed raw materials are collected at a weighed vacuum cyclone positioned at a single point. The PLC-controlled system automatically manages which raw material is weighed, for how long, and within what tolerances, according to the recipe entered on the SCADA screen. This eliminates dosing errors, operator interventions, and batch-to-batch variations.

    | Kneader Mixing and Liquid Binder Dosing

The granular and powder raw materials collected at the weighed vacuum cyclone are transferred directly to the kneader feed. While the core dough is kneaded inside the kneader, the liquid adhesive — one of the process's most critical parameters — is added to the system via gravimetric dosing. Thanks to PLC and SCADA integration, the adhesive quantity, kneading time, and process parameters are continuously monitored, and deviation from the recipe is prevented.

The homogeneously kneaded core dough is spread at a controlled thickness between aluminum sheets. The resulting composite panel is cut to the desired dimensions on the line and stacked in an orderly manner. Throughout all these stages, the system records production quantities, weighing data, recipe history, and raw material consumption. As a result, the production process not only runs, but also produces quality that is traceable, reportable, and sustainable.

      | SCADA, Reporting, and Traceability

The entire production process is centrally managed and monitored in real time via the SCADA system. Recipes are stored in the system's memory; every production step is automatically documented together with batch-based weighing data. While the consumption quantities of granular, powder, and liquid raw materials are tracked via detailed reports, production times and operator actions are also recorded by the system.

Thanks to this structure, the process not only runs automatically, but also becomes measurable, retrospectively analyzable, and continuously improvable. Transparency, traceability, and quality assurance in production become a standard feature.

The homogeneously prepared core dough is spread between the aluminum sheets in a controlled, even thickness. The stable core structure achieved throughout the process ensures smoothness and mechanical strength on the panel surface. The products, formed into panels, are cut to precise dimensions on the line, stacked in an orderly manner, and made ready for shipment with quality continuity preserved.

As a result, standardization in core quality is reflected one-to-one in the final composite panel quality.

Take your production to the next level with VOLDE's turnkey solutions that control the entire process, from core preparation to panel output.

        | From Core to Panel, Standard Quality

Thanks to its PLC-controlled, fully automatic structure, this system minimizes operator dependency while making the entire process controllable from a single point via centralized management through SCADA. The gravimetric weighing and dosing applied to granular, powder, and liquid raw materials ensures that the same recipe is applied in full for every batch. The stable, uninterrupted flow provided in kneader feeding, in turn, guarantees production continuity and product quality.
