Sponge Insulation Membrane Calcite Feed

Uninterrupted Flow, Precise Dosing in Calcite Feeding

VOLDE designs and installs, on a turnkey basis, calcite feeding and dosing systems used in the production of sponge-based, bitumen-containing insulation membranes, suited to high-temperature and challenging process conditions. Thanks to the correct engineering approach, uninterrupted, controlled production is achieved even with powder raw materials that are difficult to flow

| Pneumatic Conveying of Calcite

The system begins with a 70 m³ skirt-type calcite silo located in the outdoor area. Calcite is loaded into the silo from bulk tanker vehicles and from there conveyed into the factory via the DENSPLUS dense-phase pneumatic conveying system. This low-speed, controlled conveying method prevents dust generation and segregation.

Calcite is transferred to two filtered intermediate bins positioned inside the factory. These bins operate independently to feed two separate mixers on the production line.

There are two mixers on the production line where bitumen and other additives are mixed in a hot environment. In the system designed by VOLDE, each mixer is fed via its own dedicated weighing bin.

The operator enters the recipe values on the control panel. When the mixer calls for calcite, the weighing bin transfers the requested quantity to the mixer in a controlled, staged manner. Once discharge is complete, the bin automatically begins collecting weight for the next batch. This way, both mixers operate simultaneously, independently of each other, and without error.

    | Safe Design Against Flow Problems

    VOLDE takes calcite's flow characteristics into account when custom-designing the silo, bins, and discharge equipment. Thanks to the dense-phase conveying system, suitable bin geometry, and correct equipment selection, there are no flow, bridging, or blockage problems throughout the system. Production does not stop, and no dosing deviations occur.

    | Protection Against High Temperature and Vapor

    All precautions are taken so that the high temperature and bitumen vapor in the mixers do not affect the calcite and dosing equipment. Powder quality is preserved and equipment safety is ensured through placement away from heat, suitable insulation, and filtration solutions.

    The mixture, homogeneously prepared in the mixer, is poured and spread between the layers of the sponge-based insulation membrane. At the end of the process;

     • In different widths
     • In roll form
     • With homogeneous core distribution

    high-quality bituminous insulation membranes are produced.
