Hot-Melt Adhesive Production

Different Materials. One Controlled Feeding Process

Hot-melt adhesive formulations typically combine EVA or other base polymers with tackifier resins, waxes and formulation-specific additives. Because these materials differ in particle form, bulk density, flow behavior and dosing requirements, the feeding system must be configured around the characteristics of each ingredient rather than applying a single transfer method to the complete recipe. VOLDE develops raw material handling, weighing and mixer-feeding systems for hot-melt adhesive production, covering bag or big bag intake, intermediate storage, controlled dosing and transfer to the mixing process. Each system is configured according to the formulation, batch size, raw material condition and plant layout.

| EVA, Tackifier Resin & Wax Feeding

EVA granules and similar polymers can be supplied from bags, big bags or intermediate bins and transferred toward the mixer through vacuum conveying or suitable mechanical feeding systems. Hopper geometry, discharge equipment and feeder selection are defined according to the actual flow behavior of the material.

Tackifier resins can be handled through enclosed bag or big bag discharge stations and transferred to weighing or mixer-feeding points with suitable dust-control measures. Where the resin is supplied in friable or irregular form, screening, lump-breaking or other preparation steps can be incorporated according to the product condition.

Wax may be supplied in pellets, flakes, pastilles or other solid forms, each requiring a different feeding approach. Depending on the product and process, controlled storage, weighing and transfer can be incorporated before mixer charging.

Typical system functions may include

 • Bag and big bag raw material intake
 • EVA and polymer transfer
 • Tackifier resin handling
 • Wax feeding according to product form
 • Gravimetric batch weighing
 • Recipe-based ingredient quantities
 • Enclosed transfer to the mixer
 • Mixer-ready and discharge interlocks
