Liquid detergent production combines liquid surfactants, water and process chemicals with selected powdered ingredients that may influence alkalinity, viscosity, stability or cleaning performance. Depending on the formulation, powders must be introduced gradually and at the correct point in the mixing sequence to achieve effective wetting and dispersion without creating excessive lumps, dust or sudden concentration changes. VOLDE develops integrated powder handling, weighing and mixer-feeding systems for liquid detergent plants. Powders received in bags or big bags can be discharged, weighed and transferred to the preparation mixer at recipe-defined quantities and feed rates. Each system is configured according to the powder characteristics, mixer capacity, addition sequence and required degree of automation
| Controlled Powder Feeding into Liquid Mixers
Dumping large quantities of powder directly into a liquid mixer can lead to poor wetting, floating powder, local agglomeration and longer dissolution times. This becomes particularly important with fine or rapidly hydrating products.
VOLDE combines bag or big bag discharge stations with weighing and suitable feeding equipment to introduce powders gradually into the mixer. Screw or vibratory feeders are selected according to bulk density, flow behavior and required dosing range, while the feed rate can be coordinated with mixer operation and the active batch recipe.

The objective is to deliver the required powder quantity without sudden dumping and to provide the mixer with a more stable, manageable material feed.
| Powder Handling for Different Formulations
Liquid detergent and home-care formulations can contain powdered raw materials with very different handling and dissolution characteristics. The feeding system therefore needs to be selected around the actual product rather than using the same equipment for every ingredient.
Typical powders may include soda ash and other alkaline builders, sodium bicarbonate, salts, CMC and other powdered thickeners, sequestrants, functional additives and specialty powders used in specific formulations. Some ingredients may be dosed directly into the mixer, while others can be prepared in a separate pre-dissolution or premix stage before entering the main batch.
CMC is a typical example where controlled addition is important: rapid addition to water can promote lump formation, while gradual incorporation under suitable agitation supports more effective hydration and viscosity development.
Material-contact parts, discharge geometry and feeder configuration are selected according to the chemical properties, flowability and required dosing accuracy of each powder.
